How can I get involved at the beginning of the season?
First, visit the Information tab. This page has a list of the dates and times of all our upcoming campus involvement events.
There are two events that we recommend you attend if you are interested in joining the team. We advertise the team and collect emails for the mailing list at Night at the Rec, which is usually a few days before classes begin. This is a great time to visit and see what our team is all about.
If you are unable to meet us at Night at the Rec, fill out the contact form under the "Contact" tab. Following the first week of school, the officers host a meeting next to the Sports Club office at the Rec. This includes an introduction, overview of our season, and important information regarding team registration. We also answer a lot of good questions.
How much is it to join the team?
This season's dues can be found under the Information tab*. Membership dues go towards our swim & dive coaches' salary, select apparel, competition entry fees, hosting home meets, and travel & lodging fees. However, competitions out-of-state, including CCS Nationals, will require extra payment for airfare and meals.
*Swimmers and divers have different dues this year. The officer board elected to make this change because divers do not have the same opportunities for travel & meets.
Are there tryouts?
Our team does not host tryouts. Instead, we offer a free 2-week trial period where new swimmers and divers can decide if our team is the right fit. Following the end of this period, swimmers and divers will not be allowed to participate until they pay dues. Any CSU student with good academic standing can join the team.
Are meets mandatory?
Meets that we don't host are not mandatory. Both home (hosted) meets require that you swim, dive, or volunteer so the event can run smoothly. If you do not compete, you must volunteer. However, some exceptions due to pre-planned activities or appointments can be made.
Where are practices?
Practice times and locations vary each semester. Check the Schedule tab to see when and where practices are.
When is Nationals, and how do we qualify?
Nationals typically takes place in late March or early April. To qualify, you must make the cuts for the individual events. Check the Competition Schedule for the latest qualifying times.
